Safety and air quality: a new vacuum system for healthier environments

The main objective is to drastically reduce the concentration of potentially harmful substances, in line with the provisions of Article 2.2.5 of Legislative Decree 81/2008, which prohibits the reintroduction of carcinogens or mutagens within the work environment. The system, which replaces a previous system that is now obsolete, thus allows not only to improve air quality, but also to achieve extremely low TLV (Threshold Limit Value) values, increasing comfort and safety in the workplace.
This choice confirms LMT’s commitment to consider the health of its employees a non-negotiable value, an integral part of the company culture.
Advanced logistics and computerized warehouse management
A second major intervention involved theentire logistics area. As a result of the concentration of all production activities in the Villaga plant alone, completed in early 2024, a thorough rethinking of the spaces allocated to storage and materials handling was necessary.
LMT therefore proceeded to build new structured and well-organized warehouse areas, equipped with shelving and equipped with a computerized system for material management and traceability. Each component, semi-finished or finished product is now identified by barcode, allowing for accurate and fast tracking throughout the production cycle.
Particular attention has been paid to the carpentry department, which now has its own dedicated warehouse, as well as to material for shipping, for which a special area has been set up. The expansion of additional space for the storage of semi-finished products and equipment is also planned in the coming months, with the aim of further optimizing logistics flows and reducing internal handling times.
Clean energy: the new 250 kW photovoltaic system
The transition to a more sustainable production model is one of the central points of LMT’s evolutionary plan. By the end of 2025, the expansion of the company’s photovoltaic system will be completed, from the current 100 kW to as much as 250 kW of installed capacity.
This major investment aims to significantly reduce energy costs and lead the company toward almost total energy independence, reducing dependence on external, nonrenewable sources. But that’s not all: thanks to the excess production, LMT will be able to feed surplus clean energy into the public grid, making a concrete contribution to the decarbonization of the local energy system.
Attention to the environment thus translates into concrete actions capable of generating economic and environmental value, and strengthening LMT’s reputation as a responsible and future-oriented company.
Process digitization: production monitored in real time
The fourth major project concerns the digitization of the production process, through the introduction of an intelligent scheduler integrated into the company’s management system. This software tool makes it possible to plan, monitor, and optimize the entire production flow, significantly improving the punctuality of deliveries, efficiency in the use of resources, and overall control of work progress.
An interactive terminal will be attached to each machine, thanks to which operators will be able to enter real-time data on the status of machining operations, which will be automatically synchronized with the central system. The software processes this data together with the data generated by the machine tools, providing a dynamic, up-to-date and transparent view of the entire production process.
The new system will enable LMT to draw up optimized production plans, reduce downtime, minimize lead time and more accurately ensure that agreed deadlines are met with customers. A development that represents a decisive step toward the connected and intelligent factory model typical of Industry 4.0.
